SEO & Natural Search Resources

Links Blog

SEO optimization and marketing is very misunderstood, with search engine rankings and placement considered only after design is set. See Martin’s SEO blog for tips and tools for natural search and a holistic approach to website publicity.

Two essential blogs come from Google Webmasters Central and Search Engine Watch. Useful resources for keyword research include Google Adwords and Overture’s Selector Tool.

Firefox

Media
I don’t do too much video or audio but my cheap digital camera has a video mode and I’ve been a happy user of YouTube since shortly after it launched. Here are my video and audio media links.

Most of my sites run on the Movable Type blogging platform, which I also use as a Content Management System. These links take you to some of my favorite extensions and hacks.

RSS
The heart of the new tech movement is RSS which usually stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It’s a format that allows different websites to pass along time-bound data, such as blog posts, news items, etc.

SEO
Everyone wants to know how to show up in search engines. SEO is one of the most mis-understood concepts on the web.

Web 2.0
I love a lot of the newer internet services that allow collaboration and easy integration with one another. Dubbed the “Web 2.0” movement, these are some sites I use. My blog aggregator site uses a lot of this services, and my Powered By page there shows how I’ve used them.
