I love a lot of the newer internet services that allow collaboration and easy integration with one another. Dubbed the “Web 2.0” movement, these are some sites I use. Various links to articles on design, search engine optimization techniques, etc.

Firefox
I highly recommend the Firefox web browser. I try to make sure my favorite extensions are listed here.

Google
Google is always coming up with new services and geeks are always mashing up new tricks.

Media
I don’t do too much video or audio but my cheap digital camera has a video mode and I’ve been a happy user of YouTube since shortly after it launched. Here are my video and audio media links.

Movable Type
Most of my sites run on the Movable Type blogging platform, which I also use as a Content Management System. These links take you to some of my favorite extensions and hacks.

RSS
The heart of the new tech movement is RSS which usually stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It’s a format that allows different websites to pass along time-bound data, such as blog posts, news items, etc.

SEO
Everyone wants to know how to show up in search engines. SEO is one of the most mis-understood concepts on the web.

Information R/evolution: Michael Wesch's latest video

Kansas State "cultural anthropoligist" Micahel Wesch brings us another movie about the revolutionary ways our information creation and categorization are changing. Tags are replacing categories and we're all creating media.

Viewing American class divisions through Facebook and MySpace

Ruby on Rails

Web development program that grew out of 37Signals. Tutorials show AJAX-y Flickr libraries & blogging systems set up in a matter of minutes.

Script.aculo.us

Lots of javascript doodads for AJAX, etc.

Review of Yahoo Pipes

Explains how it will get better with time because all creations are published and public.

Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us

Great YouTube video from the "Digital Ethnography" department at Kansas state that explains the revolutionary implications of Web 2.0 on human communication.
