Nonprofit Web Design and Social Media Web Design

Martin Profile Picture Many activists will know me from my longterm involvement in nonviolence and peace work. In the early 1990s I worked with New Society Publishers, a Philadelphia-based book publisher dedicated to producing books on nonviolent social change. In 1995 I moved the work online with Nonviolence.org (read more), a groundbreaking website that was a pioneer in the kind of online community organizing we now call social media.

Hire Martin! My current freelance work includes a number of nonprofit organizations and small businesses dedicated to social change and advocacy. Nowadays these campaigns are more likely to be built around Facebook, Drupal, search engine optimization, etc., but the fundamental work is the same: get the message out, build alliances and coordinate campaigns.

As of Summer 2011, I'm taking a full-time position with a Philadelphia-based magazine. This greatly limits the time I have to devote to freelance web design or consulting. I suspect I will mostly be supporting existing clients and only very occasionally taking on small projects of interest.
